Welcome to the first Weekly Update of the year.
Before I talk about anything else, I have to remind folks that you have only a few days left to order your Surprise Package. The extended offer ends Sunday, January 9, 2011. If you intend to get one, you need to order now. The Surprise Package will not be offered again until Christmas 2011. This is your last weekend to order your Christmas Surprise Package!
Palladium Office hijinks. The New Year has not slowed down for us one split second. Ideas for new books and products are flying like mad. I’m even dreaming of stories and new products. Really! Wayne has been upgrading computers, Alex has been engaged in research, Kathy’s dealing with year end processing, we’ve all been involved reorganizing the offices and warehouse and engaged in all manner of business activity. The office seems to be in a perpetual state of excitement and activity. It’s cool because the hours zoom by as we try to get everything we need and want to do, done, and excitement is . . . um, exciting and welcomed.
Why is the Weekly Update being posted on a Wednesday instead of Friday or Thursday? Wayne and family members are driving down to North Carolina for a wedding. No, not Wayne’s – a cousin’s. He was kind enough to squeeze in posting and emailing the Weekly Update before he left.
UPDATE: The Rifter® #53. I drove to the printer yesterday (Tuesday January 4, 2011) to approve the pre-press proof of the book and cover. Wayne’s right, this is another great issue of The Rifter®. The articles are diverse, fun and useful. Four different world settings are covered (Rifts®, Palladium Fantasy®, Nightbane® and Heroes Unlimited™), the art is excellent and there’s a lot of news, coming attractions, and a shocking chapter of Hammer of the Forge™. The cover by Zachary Schoenbaum is perfect. It was specifically designed to reflect the HU2 article and is full of fun details and nuance, making it one of those pieces that the more you look at it, the more you see. It is our first new title of the new year, and should ship January 14, 2011, as scheduled.
UPDATE: Rifts® Canada and Rifts® Dark Conversions are back in stock by Friday (possibly arriving from the printer tomorrow – Thursday, January 6). I just spoke to the printer, and I’ve been assured the books will arrive not later than noon, Friday. Can hardly wait to have them both back in stock. Fans have been asking us to get them back in stock, so here they are – “back due to popular demand.” Order your copies today.
Six additional titles are back in print by January 14:
- Palladium Fantasy RPG®
- Rifts® Game Master Guide
- Rifts® World Book 5: Triax & The NGR
- Rifts® Bionics Sourcebook
- Rifts® China One
- Rifts® Megaverse® Builder
UPDATE: Armageddon Unlimited™. I’ve been busy with many other business matters, including brainstorming sessions, talking with freelancers and staff, and making plans for the rest of the year, but I’ve also been back to work on Armageddon Unlimited™. This is another exciting addition to the Palladium library of titles.
UPDATE: Thundercloud Galaxy™ is next on my plate.
UPDATE: Rifts® WB One: Vampire Kingdoms™, Expanded & Updated and Rifts® Vampires Sourcebook™. I have so many ideas for these two titles, I can hardly contain myself.
Ideas for everything. Ideas are flying like crazy. I have a secret project going with Chuck Walton, another with Carl Gleba, a third with Mark Dudley and a fourth with Carmen Bellaire. Greg Diazyck has been working on a secret project for several months now (ever since the Open House) and Taylor White should be turning in his secret project in a few weeks. I’ve also spoken with Mike Leonard, Mike Mumah and a couple other folks who are also kicking around ideas for new projects and upcoming books. Meanwhile, I have been working with Matthew Clements on four secret projects, two of them Rifts® sourcebooks people will go wild over. As if that weren’t enough, I woke up this morning with some great ideas for a Nightbane® project and worked out the opening story line for an undisclosed Rifts® project I’ve been kicking around for a few months.
Like I said, the ideas are flying and the energy levels are off the chart! And this doesn’t even include our plans for the Palladium website, Facebook and other online and market areas. After Palladium’s Creators Conference in April, I imagine energy will rise to even greater levels.
Though I’m torturing you with hints about “secret projects,” for the next couple of months we’ll be focused on getting titles already advertised and in the pipeline into your hands. Trust me, they’ll be enough to keep you excited till Summer.
Christmas Surprise Package comments are presented at the end of this update. As always, it is fun to see what folks have to say.
Keep your eyes peeled for these Weekly Updates, as there will be plenty to report in the weeks and months to come.
– Kevin Siembieda, Publisher
The Christmas Surprise Package is the best bargain in the role-playing market, and it ends this weekend. If you’ve been meaning to get one time is running out. This offer will not be made again until next Christmas.
Note: This offer extends only to currently available product and will NOT be held for products released after January 9, 2011. Sorry.
Without any deadline to receive the package by any particular date, you can opt to use UPS Ground or a variety of delivery methods from the United States Postal Service, even Media Mail. Please note that Media Mail remains the most unreliable method of shipping, cannot be traced and you use it at your own risk. If lost in the mail, Palladium does not replace any order sent by Media Mail.
Canada and other countries. This is your chance to get autographs from the Palladium crew and enough product to compensate for the high cost of shipping.
In case you still don’t know what the Palladium Christmas Surprise Package is: It’s the best bargain anywhere. Palladium RPGs, books, and other products at low prices, plus autographs and surprises!
PLEASE make sure you provide a “wish list” of 8-12 currently available items (RPGs, sourcebooks, T-shirts, coffee mugs, prints, original artwork, and other stuff) or you may be disappointed. Note: Surprise Packages will NOT be held for products released after January 9, 2011. Sorry.
PLEASE list only items you want. Do NOT list items you already have because it may cause confusion and you could be sent items you own instead of items you want.

The focus of Dark Conversions™ is on creatures of darkness and other monsters such as Alien Intelligences, Elementals, were-beasts, vampires, weird supernatural beings, the Nightbane and others. If you are looking for practitioners of dark magic, villains, monsters and vile horrors to pit against your heroes, this is the sourcebook for you. Many creatures also have notes on how they fit into the Rifts Earth setting and where they may be encountered.
A complete role-playing game set in a unique realm of high fantasy and epic adventure that has thrilled fans for 27 years. All the fantasy elements you’d expect are there, but spun in ways that you may not expect. Magic has replaced science. The elder races of Dwarves, Elves and Titans have given way to the rise of humanity and the Wolfen Empire. While the monster races – Goblins, Orcs, Ogres and Trolls – lay claim to the Old Kingdom, from which they launch their pillaging raids. And that’s just the beginning.
The ultimate Rifts® reference and sourcebook, it contains all the weapons, equipment, body armor, power armor, robots, vehicles, skills and psionics from Rifts® World Books 1-23, Sourcebooks 1-4, and Siege on Tolkeen 1-6, collected into one big reference. Plus, maps, lists and indexes of O.C.C.s, R.C.C.s, experience tables and more.
A compendium of bionic and cybernetic systems in the Rifts North America setting, with information about Partial and Full Conversion Cyborgs, Headhunters, City Rats, the Cyber-Doc and more. A must-have resource for fans of cyborgs.
The New German Republic (NGR) is surrounded and besieged by the hostile Gargoyle Empire – an empire of giant monsters. Only the superior robotics and weapons technology of Triax keeps the monsters at bay, but for how long? This epic World Book presents the Triax robots, power armor, cyborgs, and world setting that is Rifts Germany and surrounding region. More than 100,000 copies sold!
Note: For dozens of new weapons, armor, robots, drones, power armor suits, cyborgs, vehicles and updated information about the NGR, Triax and the war, see Rifts® World Book 31: Triax™ 2 – 192 pages – $24.95 – Cat. No. 881.
There is no place on Rifts Earth more exotic, magical and dangerous than China, especially since the Hell of the Yama Kings has bled into the mortal plane.
Note: For 18 new O.C.C.s, heroes of the Celestial Court, Geofront, secret technology, mystical powers, Demon Wrestling, Demon Quelling, Chi Weapons, martial arts and more, see Rifts® World Book 25: Rifts® China 2 – 160 pages – $20.95 – Cat. No. 858.

The Rifter® is your doorway to unlimited imagination and numerous Palladium role-playing worlds. It offers new heroes, powers, weapons, magic and adventure for your games. It presents new villains, monsters and dangers to battle, and new ideas to consider.
The Rifter® #53 includes:
Demons and Deevils are fighting for dominance of the Earth, and if they can’t win, nobody can have it. They’ll destroy the planet.
Armageddon Unlimited™ is the ultimate good vs evil setting and adventure. The fate of the world hangs in the balance and only you can stop its destruction.
Armageddon Unlimited™ is more than an epic, world-saving adventure, it is also a sourcebook jam-packed with new powers, magic, weapons and Power Categories that can be incorporated into any Heroes Unlimited™ campaign.
Highlights include:
Thundercloud Galaxy™ is the perfect companion to Rifts® Dimensional Outbreak™ to expand one’s gaming Megaverse in the Three Galaxies. History, aliens, weapons, spacecraft, and adventure in a galaxy far, far away.
Kevin Siembieda is reorganizing, tweaking, expanding and updating one of the most popular Rifts® World Books ever published: Vampire Kingdoms™. This will include some new artwork and an expanded page count. The book will be updated and expanded in much the same way as Kevin did with Rifts® Sourcebook One a few years ago. Best of all, it will be accompanied by the Rifts® Vampires Sourcebook™.
Trouble is stirring in the Vampire Kingdoms as ambitious vampire lords, ladies and misanthropes seek to expand their power to dominate more mortal life forms.
Written by Kevin Siembieda and a handpicked selection of other writers, this sourcebook explores the vampires of Mexico and their kingdoms in ways you never imagined. Tons of new data, adventure ideas and revelations.
This Robotech® sourcebook will be an early 2011 release.
At last, the underwater realm of Lemuria. The people and history of Lemuria, new magic, sea herbs and healing, sea monsters, and more.
The Minion War spills across Rifts Earth, where demons and infernals hope to recruit allies and use the Rifts as gateways of destruction. Their influence shakes things up across the planet, especially at locations where demons and Deevils already have a strong presence. More details to follow, but for now, ‘nuff said.
Data about the chaos and madness of the early days of the Great Cataclysm, and the brave men and women who tried to stem the tide of destruction and save lives, the First Responders.

Start planning for Halloween early as Palladium’s very own Kathy Simmons will start to offer her 2011 selection of life-sized (most are 6 feet or taller) Halloween props that are to die for.
Each is an all-weather, life-sized Halloween prop that can handle rain and snow, and is a one-of-a-kind work of art (no two are exactly the same). Each looks frighteningly “real.” All come apart and fold down to slightly larger than a king-size pillow for easy storage. Comes with easy instructions, a plastic storage bag, and the lawn stake to stand it up in your front yard. Indoor stand sold separately.
Types of “Ghouls” include: Zombies (all kinds!), killer clowns, wizards, witches, devils, grave ghouls, scarecrows, executioners, mad doctors, deadly nurses, vampires, werewolves, and more. Kathy’s also now offering an array of hand-painted Halloween signs, signs with heads and bodies hanging from them, witch’s brewing pots, Halloween centerpieces and more. Best of all, her high quality creations are much more affordable and imaginative than most competitors or mass produced items in a store, making them affordable Halloween fun.
If you think the photos online look good, you should see them in person. A typical “ghoul,” as she calls her creations, costs $99-$179. You can see some of her work at her Queen of Ghouls™ Ebay store – queenofghouls.com.
C.K. in Medina, Ohio, writes: Santa Kev, thank you for another great year of awesome grab bags. I would like to thank Palladium Books for making the best RPGs out [on the market] right now. Every book is filled with heart that is lacking in many other game systems.
P.H. in Largo, Florida, writes: I’m so glad you extended the Christmas Package through the new year. I totally forgot to order mine before Christmas and I was kicking myself until I looked at the website this morning. Thank you for doing the Surprise Package in the first place. It is great to see a company that actually gives back something personal to the people who buy from them.
K.E. in Little Elm, Texas, writes: I’m so glad you guys have made it through to this point . . . best wishes for a blessed new year in 2011.
S.A. in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, writes: I have been playing Dead Reign with my friends now for a while. It is a great party event. Heck, I even got my girlfriend to play, which is saying a lot. I like the Palladium system much more than the D&D one. I love the scenarios and options your games allow. It really is true that no game session will ever be the same. Thank you for your hard work. Keep it up. You guys are fantastic.
M.F. in Lakeland, Minnesota, writes: I started gaming (at least seriously) about two years ago and it’s been great. My group plays a variety of systems, including Rifts®, Heroes Unlimited™ and Ninjas and Superspies™. Currently, we’re playing a Rifts® campaign and it’s a blast . . . Thanks for publishing great games . . . may the next year be fruitful, productive and prosperous!
C.R. in Manassas, Virginia, writes: We have loved everything you have ever made and just want you to keep making these wonderful games to enrich our lives with fun and wonder . . . Can’t wait to see what you great guys and gals put out in the future.
R.McD. in Mishawaka, Indiana, writes: I have nothing but the utmost respect for you and your team. When I arrived at the Open Houses and Julius can call me by name from the other side of the warehouse, it lets me know that I have not walked into a business, but I have joined a family. Some of my best memories from gaming have actually come over those extended three-day weekends with you and your Palladium crew ...
R.H. in Livermore, California, writes: My friend and I got back together to roleplay about 6 months ago, after a cold spell of maybe 8-10 years. I met a new guy who wanted to G.M. some D&D/Star Wars for us. So we tested him out to see if we got along okay. He’s a great addition to our group. Star Wars was fun. Last month, my friend said he wanted to G.M. Rifts for us. He was always our best Game Master. So we swapped out our new member to player status and the new G.M. started us on a campaign set in the Tolkeen conflict. We had an instant convert to Rifts® and the Palladium system.
G.T. in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, writes: Rifts® is an incredibly indepth RPG that has so much to offer and so thank you for all the time and stress and sweat that has been put into Rifts® by so many people. I am interested in trying Palladium Fantasy as well.
K.R. in Saint Paul, Minnesota, writes: Thanks for putting out affordable, quality products in fun settings. My friends and I have been playing Palladium games for 20+ years, and hope to keep playing for many more to come.
D.L. in New York, New York, writes: Hey Kevin . . . I really appreciate how hands-on you are with your fans. Keep up the great work for years to come.
E.H. in Brandon, Mississippi, writes: You have a great thing going here, and I hope it goes forever. Best wishes to you and yours.
S.V. in Redlands, California writes: All of you have brought a wonderful magic into my life for many years. Thank you and may the magic in your world never fade.
I.N. in Korea, writes: I had the honor and privilege of gaming with an incredible group a few years back, and the times we played still stand out as some of the best times in my life. Palladium has helped me when my marriage was shaky, it’s helped when I was depressed, and it helped me overcome PTSD from time in Afghanistan. What you guys do is more important than merely providing entertainment. Thank you.
