It has been a wild week, so I’m going to keep this Press Release short, again.
2012 Open House. We continue to get positive feedback from people about how much they loved the 2010 Open House. In fact, we already have a number of gamers pledging to return in 2012, including some of our friends overseas. Fantastic. That was the whole idea for hosting the next Open House in 2012 – to give people enough time to save up for the event.
UPDATE: Triax™ 2 is hot, hot, hot. Rifts® fans are singing its praises and enjoying the wealth of information and fun. Keep those orders coming in.
More Triax™ 2 in The Rifter® #51. Brandon Aten is working up some new material special for The Rifter® #51, plus we might include some text and art that got cut from the book due to space and time considerations.
UPDATE: Online sales were huge over last weekend, but sales flattened out toward the end. Still, sales were strong for the third week in a row. Could be we’re turning a corner.
UPDATE: Rifts® “Zipper” Hoodie. The zipper hoodies are back in stock and shipping on Monday. Sizes Medium through 3XL are back in stock. (Sorry, no small, and 3XL is as large as we can get). UPDATE: Rifts® Movie News. I’m still waiting for that movie script. It’s my understanding that Chad Oman and company have their hands full with last minute promotion and stuff for Prince of Persia (to be released Memorial Day Weekend), as well as work on a couple other big projects.
UPDATE: Dad. My father, Henry, was in good spirits this week and I had a very nice visit with him and Arlene. Spoke to a few old friends this week too, and enjoyed catching up.
UPDATE: Wayne Smith. May 1st was Wayne’s birthday (he turned 35), but we’re celebrating tonight. Happy Birthday Wayne.
Online Auctions Coming Soon. While unearthing items for the Open House Auction, I dug up some cool items that didn’t make it into the Open House Auction. I think we will be hosting 2-3 Online Auctions starting in June and running into July. Keep your eyes peeled. Items include a Palladium Crimson hardcover, an original Rifts® Gold hardcover (#34), Erick Wujcik’s first game, Sector 57, some original artwork, maybe even some Kevin Long Robotech® art, rare prints and posters, and other goodies. Keep your eyes peeled.
Exciting Times. I’m starting to understand that old Chinese curse: “May you live in interesting times.” Boy oh boy, are there interesting times at Palladium Books. All kinds of things are going on behind the scenes and chewing up our time. Some involve Rifts®, others do not. Some are fun, some are not, but all are exciting, and many are full of promise.
This week we took our first look at Rifts® Lemuria with an eye for publication. It looks pretty darn good. I also spoke with Lemuria author, Greg Diaczyk about Rifts® Underseas™ Two, which is nearly completed. In many ways, it sounds like the equivalent of Triax™ 2 underwater with more on the New Navy and all kinds of aquatic weapons and hardware. Greg is also going to embark on a secret project that will cause fans to jump for joy. I’m not going to name it yet in case things don’t pan out, but oh baby.
I also discussed the two Vampire Kingdoms™ books with contributing authors, The Sovietski sourcebook with Brandon Aten, some ideas with Mark Oberle and Mark Dudley, and a few other projects. I was so busy I did not have time to call Tommy Yune to discuss new Robotech® projects (sorry Tommy), but I will next week. I expect to be jumping back into Rifts® Heroes of the Megaverse® this weekend, and Armageddon Unlimited™ immediately after it.
The Rifts®/Colt the Outlander™ crossover comic in Heavy Metal® has been expanded into a two-part story to appear in two issues of Heavy Metal® Magazine. I have approved the story, the story-boards and seen some of the artwork – wow. You’re going to love it. The first installment appears in the July issue.
Meanwhile, I’ve got a few creators developing ideas for what might turn into one or more Rifts® comic book series. Again, it’s too soon to say this will come to fruition, but we are excited about it.
